Good Morning Church,

This morning I was reading in Proverbs 31 and I want to share with it with you.  Sometimes we can feel as though we are failing as wives and mothers (or husbands and fathers).  Normally, we can seek God’s guidance and work through the challenges from day to day.  However, things are really different now.  There are new sets of challenges that we are facing and many unknowns that we have never been afraid of before.  So as a wife and a mother, it has been really hard the last few months for me.  Has anyone else felt the same way??

We put these high expectations on ourselves and then we feel really down when we are unable to meet those expectations.  We are so hard on ourselves!  Why is that?  Why can’t we just do the best we can and strive to seek Jesus instead of these high expectations?  I’m still figuring that out, but these verses I read today showed me what I should be striving for.  I’m a work in progress and it’ll take time to become more like Jesus.  It won’t happen in a day.  Becoming the world’s best wife or mother won’t happen in a day either!  So let’s not be so hard on ourselves and give ourselves grace.

Proverbs 31:10-12, 25-31 says,
"10 A wife of noble character who can find?
    She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
    and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
    all the days of her life."
"25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
    she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
    and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
    and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
    her husband also, and he praises her:
29 'Many women do noble things,
    but you surpass them all.'
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
    and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."

Let’s use these verses to guide us this week and the weeks to come during the pandemic.  Let’s be kind to ourselves and try our best to honor God in even the small day to day stuff.  I’ll leave a song below to help remind you to seek Him this week.

Do you need to give yourself some grace this week?  In what ways can you do that?  Take some time to pray and ask God for help in this area. – All I Ask – Meredith Andrews
